The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) was first developed by Netscape
to secure browser-to-web-server communication channels.
OpenSSL is an industry-standard package of cryptographic
services that provides SSL and Transaction Layer Security
(TLS) protocols. Additionally, OpenSSL provides client/server
authentication, encryption, and message integrity services for
secure communications on the TCP/IP protocol.

You can download the latest version of HP SSL for OpenVMS from

To check whether HP SSL is installed on your system, enter the
following command:
$ PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCT SSL
If HP SSL is installed on your system, you can find the release
notes by entering the following command:
$ DIRECTORY SYS$HELP:SSL*.RELEASE_NOTES
