VMS Help DEFRAGMENT, VOLUME, Qualifiers, /SCRIPT *Conan The Librarian |
/SCRIPT={script-name}
/NOSCRIPT (default)
The /SCRIPT qualifier assigns a user-supplied name
to a script. If a duplicate script-name is selected,
defragmentation software issues an error message and
does not enter the new script into the database-no
defragmentation takes place.
A script name may be up to 64 characters in length
and may contain any of the following characters:
o Any alphanumeric character
o Underscore ( _ )
o Hyphen ( - )
o Dollar sign ( $ )
Observe the following rules when naming a script:
o Use any combination of uppercase and lowercase
letters.
o Do not begin script names using the dollar sign,
however you can include the dollar sign within
the script name. (The dollar sign is reserved for
special use by HP.)
o Do not end a script name with a hyphen, since the
hyphen is the DCL continuation character.
If you do not supply a script name using the /SCRIPT
qualifier, the defragmentation software generates
a unique script name. This internally generated
name has the format DFG$SCRIPTX[X...], where X is
a hexadecimal number that keeps the script names
unique. Names beginning with DFG$ are reserved for
use by the defragmentation software.
