The "I" command is used to insert text, starting at the
  current pointer.  The command is of the form:

      Itext-to-insert<ESC>

  For example, to insert the text "This is a test", type

      IThis is a test$

  (Note that the <ESC> key is echoed as a "$" sign at
   your terminal.)
